Senator Secures $214 Million for Missouri Defense Projects that Invest in America’s Troops
[excerpted] October 6, 2009: WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sealing a huge victory for American warfighters, taxpayers, and Missouri workers, U.S. Senator Kit Bond today applauded the passage of the defense spending bill. The Senate-passed bill includes a critical provision to help preserve our nation’s ability to defend our skies and much needed funds for the C-17 cargo plane, the F/A-18 fighter, and equipment for our citizen-soldiers. In addition, Bond was able to secure $214 million to fund vital defense research in Missouri that will help ensure our troops in the field have a technological advantage.
“This bill will help preserve our nation’s ability to defend our skies, guarantee our military has reliable and affordable airlift, ensure our fighters have planes to fly, and help give troops in the field a technological advantage over our enemies.”
